Features and Advantages of Cross Chain
Ø Compared with die forged chain, the cross chain has following advantages: low running noise. For same length of both chains, the operating noise of cross chain is at least 40% lower than that of die forged chain, which is not exceed 50dB.
Ø The cross chain is join connected with high transmission accuracy, while the die forging chain is a combination type easily detachable chain. In this projects all three lines contain switch and pass straight track. As we all know the fixing of push dog plays a crucial role in the reliable transmission of the trolley when it pass through the switch. The push dog of cross chain is screwed to the power chain, while the push dog of die forged chain is assembly.
Ø Due to structure difference, the cross chain only needs 30~50 KG initial tension force during operation, even if there is no tension force at take-up unit, it can still operate stably. However, the die forged chain requires 200KG initial tension force, to ensure normal running it is necessary to keep power chain tighten, otherwise the creeping phenomenon will be occurred. Which results increasing operation of entire system and makes the curve track easily wear out.
Ø Lower maintenance cost after normal use compared with die forged chain, which is obvious in the following aspects:
1. Lubrication cost: The cross chain is lubricated with oil, while the die forging chain is lubricated with oil and grease (chain backup trolley), which increases the oil consumption and refueling equipment cost in the later stage. Detail comparison of the oil consumption will show later.
2. The curve track of cross chain is made of structural parts without supporting rollers, and no lubrication required. While the die forging chain is in contrast, the backup roller group should be lubricated regularly. Moreover it is overhead installed which increase the inconvenience of lubrication, so the labor cost and fuel consumption will be large.
3. The three lines of this projects all adopts parallel accumulation conveyor, that is, each trolley group includes two sets of accumulating trolleys, two sets of rear trolleys, one of which runs on one side of the track, and the other set of accumulating trolley and rear trolley runs on the track in parallel position. To make sure the push dog running on both sides of the track is parallel, which is precondition to keep stable operation of the trolley group, a set of spring take-up units are designed to adjust the consistency of the push dog. Benefited from join connection of cross chain, it is one-time work of adjustment. However, the wear of die forging chain is greater than that of cross chain, especially in the early stage, the constant adjustment requires significant workload.
